When Your Body Breaks
03:36
|
|||
Well in this sinking ship take the women and the children last.
Clear the lifeboats off the deck and push the weaker back.
Let the guilt of what once was, and could have been,
drown with the rest of them.
But when your body breaks, were you too afraid to notice?
How the threads of life unraveled on the floor.
And the sweater knit no longer will resemble,
a life that you were proud to call your own.
Well look at what you've done, post initial thought.
It's alarming how the screams will coat your inner walls.
And it drips into your mouth when you try to talk.
All you taste is what you were, before you went wrong.
But when your body breaks, were you just too proud to notice.
That the light above my shoulder never shown.
As we danced beneath the sound of foreign tongues.
As you whispered words you knew I never was.
When your body breaks,
When your body breaks.

Physical Fears
05:41
|
|||
As I gnaw at the ropes of physical fears, that have kept me for years in a damp white cotton bouquet.
Do you feel safe knowing you're on display?
As the forest fires turn over, the fires of myself seem to end.
Despite their attempts to feebly begin again.
Keep it as simple as you like, oh my.
My future screams child, you'll be alright.
As I uncover flaws that have dwelt in my spine, finally reaching a size where they couldn't be ignored.
Is it true to that rid them, I would die first.
And the rivers never flooded with words, I heard,
babies screaming in a stroller as the mother drowned on May 21st.
With a note, it's not my problem anymore.
Keep it as simple as you like, oh my.
My future screams child, you'll be alright.
In a parking lot filled with trash and broken bottles,
sons and daughters lay around their cars proclaiming "We got away"
And after we ran through the church yard, God gave up the chase.
In a room full of thighs, neck ties, and sailor caps,
they sing together, but only hear themselves.
"Well how in tune I am, compared to everyone else"
I sit home, alone, stacked deck worth of thoughts.
Maybe not, but at least I don't have to care.
